Going to college is one of the biggest steps a high school senior takes before becoming an adult. Following a college checklist is the best way to be prepared.
Below are the 7 essential items to have on your college checklist when going into your freshman year
The Pac-Kit by First Aid Only is the most important thing you can buy before going to school. Many people overlook the necessity for having a first aid kit on the top shelf of your dresser or in the bottom of the closet. There have been many times where I have needed a bandage, aspirin, or even scissors. Make sure that this is the first thing in your cart going into the summer before you get to college!
Having an alarm clock on the college checklist is a necessary evil in college. It is so easy to forget to turn your alarm on the night before, whether it is intentional or not. Getting a sleek alarm clock that comes with all of these features is definitely worth it. The dimmer turns the brightness down at night so that it is not glaring in you and your roommate’s eyes.
The alarm is a much safer bet than using your phone, which can be charged with the USB Charger. The temperature feature is a cool add on so you can Snapchat your friends a picture of your 90 degree room because your air conditioning does not get turned on until the fourth week of the semester. This should be next to every freshman’s bed so they can make it to that 8 AM every Monday and Wednesday!
The JBL Flip 4 is an essential item that I have on this list because it was used every single day, multiple times a day. Investing in a quality bluetooth speaker, especially if it is waterproof, will allow you to have easy access to jamming out whenever you want. It is one of the best for its size and definitely cheaper than a Beats Pill and it has the same or better sound quality. There are other cheaper alternatives, but you may be sacrificing some sound quality.
College. This poster is an absolute classic. Your dorm or apartment walls should be covered in posters that express yourself and if you are doing college right, you could have days like Animal House. Alternatives to think include John Belushi Drinking Jack Daniels, Michael Scott’s “You Miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. – Wayne Gretzky – Michael Scott”, Chance The Rapper’s Coloring Book Album Cover, Kanye’s Graduation Album, and many more! A quick search of your favorite rapper, group, or entertainer will give you tons of different sizes and styles.
These simple hooks were the one thing that I overlooked when I was packing for college. Once I moved in and saw that there was at least one per person in my entire hall, I went out and got a pack. You can use this Command hooks to hang your towels, lanyards (you’ll stop wearing it in a few weeks), keys, and anything else that you could possible need to hang.
I personally used them to hang wires and headphones to avoid them from getting tangled and it worker really well! Definitely put this in your cart when you’re ordering supplies.
As you can see, there is a music theme going on here. Getting noise cancelling headphones in another necessity. I have spoken to countless friends who had a roommate who snored, talked and chewed way too loud, and loved to talk when they had work to get done or wanted to block out the rest of the world. These headphones have a 4.5 out of 5 rating with almost 5,000 reviews.
They are wireless with the option of being wired and have a mic, which is very nice for taking phone calls or talking when plugged into your laptop or desktop. If you do not like over the ear headphones you can look into Bose SoundSport in-Ear Headphones or MindBeast Super Bass 90% Noise Isolating Earbuds with Mic.
every time you go anywhere near a communal area in your dorm.
